FAQ

  • Where and when will the sessions?
    Sundays at the Royal Grammar School, Jesmond, Newcastle NE2 4QA You can access the sports centre at the following address and entrance: NE2 4QA The Brandling Park entrance, not the Eskdale Terrace entrance, is situated at the rear of the school. It may be beneficial to make a quick trip to the venue before the sessions start so that you are familiar with the entrance point. The entrance's black metal gates and barrier should be open on Sundays, but depending on the system in operation, we might also provide you with the gate and barrier access code.
  • What do I need to bring?
    Water bottle and gymnastics-specific attire are required. Although girls should wear a sports top underneath their T-shirt, shorts and a T-shirt are OK. If your child has a leotard and shorts please ask them to wear them.
  • Ages and groups
    Sessions will be grouped according to the following ages: 6years – 8years and 9 years plus. Timings are available when you click through to the bookings page.
  • Will parents be able to spectate?
    Parents / guardians will be able to watch the sessions from the seating area within the sports hall. Please take off your shoes; do not leave them in the hallway. Bring them into the seating area. Gymnasts' toilets are in the sports hall corridor, whereas adult toilets are at the sports centre lobby. Please do not use the gymnasts' toilets. Currently there are no refreshment facilities onsite.
  • Is there on site parking?
    Parking is available on-site, however if it's full, you may need to park outside the grounds of the school. Please leave time for this. Please see image below.
  • Is photography allowed?
    For Safeguarding purposes please do not take any photographs or videos during the sessions.
  • Does my child need British Gymnastics membership?
    We are a British Gymnastic club (BG), so you must join BG after your child's second session for their insurance to be valid. Unfortunately, your child won't be able to finish the course without BG membership. The membership cost is £22 for a whole year, comes with a number of advantages, and gives your child personal accident insurance. Please include your child's British Gymnastics membership number when making your booking if they are already a member. New BG members who have joined to attend our sessions should email their number separately after their second session. When registering Join - Sports Club Newcastle - 94135
  • How can I book a class?
    Our classes run on a Sunday morning. For all class times and booking please click the link below.
  • Welfare officer details
    Sports Club Newcastle is committed to operating gymnastics on a safe level for all participants regardless of ability. We promote a happy, healthy, culture within the gymnastics centre, where all participants feel they have fair and equal opportnities to progress and enjoy the sport of gymnastics.   • Do you have a waiting list?
    Once our classes are full your child can be added to the waiting list. If anyone leaves your child will be offered a space. Once we have enough on the waiting list to open an extra class we will contact you to offer you a space in this new class.
